Beatrix Alerte transferred to UCF in Spring 2024 with a plan: build community on campus, explore a career in media, stay active in service and say yes to every opportunity.
The first three goals came naturally. She enrolled in classes, mentored two freshmen as part of the UCF chapter of Big Sister Little Sister mentoring program and served as a trip coordinator for the Alternative Spring Break Program. Alerte also gained work experience as a marketing ambassador for Project BEST, a Student Support Services project that aids first-generation students, and as an intern with UCF Athletics.
Her final goal — exploring every opportunity available — was made easier by the support of donors like you. By providing funding to the UCF College of Sciences, you ensure students like Alerte can get the most out of their time at UCF, allowing them to say “yes” while leaning on the support of scholarships to make ends meet.
The College of Sciences, UCF’s largest college, received nearly $460,000 from more than 350 donors during UCF Day of Giving 2026. These generous contributions will power the next generation of thought leaders, innovators and change-makers across disciplines ranging from communication and media to the physical, biological, social, behavioral and computational sciences, and more. Through these gifts, students gain transformative, hands-on experiences. From internships and research to fieldwork in Florida and around the world, your impact extends beyond UCF and into the bold future we’re building together.
